# How much does a transfer from Sofia Airport cost? What the price depends on

When you look for the price of a transfer from Sofia Airport, the most common problem is that nowhere do you see one clear number. The reason is simple: the price depends on the route, the class of car and the number of passengers with luggage. So instead of showing you a table that will not match your case, we explain exactly how the sum is put together, what it includes and how to get a fixed price before you get into the car.

## Why there is no single universal price
A transfer from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 to a hotel in central Sofia and a transfer to Bansko are two completely different journeys. In the first case we are talking about a few kilometres, in the second about nearly two hours of driving through a mountain stretch. The same goes for the choice of car: a sedan for two passengers and a van for six with ski equipment cannot cost the same.

At LuxLane the price is calculated from the route and the class you choose, and it is fixed when the booking is confirmed. In other words, you do not see a general tariff but a specific sum for your journey, which does not change afterwards.

## What the transfer price includes
The fixed transfer price covers the whole journey from point to point, not just the time in motion. It includes:

- **The car and the driver** for the entire route, with no charge for kilometres or for waiting in traffic.
- **A meet and greet at the airport** and help with luggage to the car.
- **Flight tracking**, so that a delay or an earlier landing is not a problem for the arrangements.
- **Road and city charges** along the route, which are not added separately at the end.
- **Luggage** up to the volume the class allows — not charged per item.
The important thing is that the price is **per car, not per passenger**. If there are four of you travelling together, you pay for one transfer, not for four seats.

## Taxis from Sofia Airport: how the price is formed there
A taxi works with a meter. The final sum depends on the tariff of the particular company, printed on the sticker on the window, on whether it is the day or night rate, on the starting fee and on how long you spent at traffic lights or in a jam. That last point is exactly what makes a taxi unpredictable: the same route at 7 in the morning and at 6 in the evening can come out quite differently.

The practical differences you feel as a passenger:

- In a taxi you learn the final sum **after** the journey; with a transfer, before it.
- A jam on Tsarigradsko Shose boulevard increases the meter reading, but not the fixed price of a transfer.
- A taxi is not booked for a specific flight with the landing time being monitored.
- For long routes outside Sofia — resorts, other cities, neighbouring countries — the taxi meter is the least suitable way to find out how much you will pay.

## Fixed price versus the meter: when each makes sense
For a short trip to a nearby hotel the difference in arrangements is smaller. A fixed price becomes a clear advantage in three situations:

- **You arrive at night or on a delayed flight.** You know the car will be waiting for you and that the sum is the same regardless of the hour.
- **You are travelling with children, a lot of luggage or skis.** The choice of class is made in advance, not in the car park in front of the terminal.
- **The route is long.** To Bansko, Borovets, Plovdiv, Varna or to Skopje and Thessaloniki, a predictable sum matters more than anything else.

## Prices to the ski resorts and other cities
Transfers outside Sofia are calculated on the same principle — by route and class — but there distance weighs more heavily. As a rough guide, by driving time: **Borovets** is the closest winter resort to the airport, **Bansko** is about two hours, **Pamporovo** is the longest of the three journeys. **Plovdiv** is covered in a little over an hour and a half, while **Varna** and **Burgas** are journeys that take a good half a day.

For these routes it makes sense to think about capacity as well. A group of four skiers with suitcases and ski bags fits more comfortably into a van than into a sedan — and in the end that works out more sensibly than two cars.

## International transfers and return journeys
From Sofia Airport there is regular travel towards Skopje, Niš, Thessaloniki, Bucharest and Belgrade. These transfers are also calculated in advance and the price is fixed before departure, including the charges along the route.

One clarification about online bookings: **the pickup point for an online booking is in Sofia** — the airport, a hotel or an address in the city. If the journey starts somewhere else, for example a return transfer from Bansko to the airport or from a hotel in Skopje, the price is given by arrangement after an enquiry.

## How the class of car affects the price
Online you can book three electric Mercedes classes:

- **EQE** — a sedan for one to three passengers with normal luggage.
- **EQS** — the executive sedan, for occasions where comfort and quiet come first.
- **EQV** — a van for groups, families and bulky luggage.
Beyond those, **on request** there are the S-Class, Maybach, V-Class, G-Class and Rolls-Royce. These cars are not booked online and are used mainly for long transfers, weddings and proms. The price for them is always by arrangement.

## How to get the exact price for your route
The quickest way: enter the pickup point, the destination, the date and time and the number of passengers in the booking form. The system calculates the price for each of the available classes and you see the sum before you confirm. There is no meter and no extra charge at the end.

A few things worth knowing before you book:

- A booking is made **at least 3 hours before** the pickup time.
- **Cancellation or changes are free up to 12 hours** before the agreed pickup time.
- The price is **per car**, not per passenger, and is fixed before the journey.
- If the route is non-standard — several stops, a journey with a return leg, a starting point outside Sofia — send an enquiry and you will receive a price by arrangement.

## Short answers to common questions
**Is there a surcharge for a night transfer?** The price you see and confirm when booking is the final one for that journey. The hour is part of the calculation, but there are no surprises afterwards.

**Do you pay for waiting if the flight is delayed?** The flight is tracked and the meeting time is adjusted to the actual landing.

**Can I add a stop along the way?** Yes, but that changes the route, so mention it in the enquiry so it is included in the price from the start.

**Is there a separate charge for a child seat?** State the child's age when booking so that the appropriate seat can be prepared.

**How many passengers fit in one car?** It depends on the class — the sedans take up to three passengers with moderate luggage, the van is for larger groups and bulky luggage.
