This guide answers both with real figures rather than ranges, and covers the parts of an airport transfer that only matter once your flight is late, your bags are last off the belt, or you are trying to reach Bansko before the lifts close. Every price below is the current published fare for that route in a LuxLane vehicle. They are per car, not per person, and they are what you pay. ## What a transfer from Sofia Airport actually costs Fares are calculated from road distance and journey time rather than a flat per-kilometre rate, which is why a long transfer does not simply scale up from a short one. The per-kilometre rate steps down as the distance grows. - **Sofia city centre** — 11 km, about 20 minutes. From EUR 66 (EQE), EUR 86 (EQV), EUR 95 (EQS). - **Borovets** — 68 km, about 1 h 10. Bansko is the route that shows why time belongs in the price alongside distance. It is 160 km — barely more than Plovdiv — but the last stretch is mountain road, and it takes half an hour longer. A price built on distance alone would undercharge for the drive and then make it up somewhere less visible. There is no airport surcharge, no night rate, no per-bag charge and no adjustment on arrival. If the traffic is bad, the price does not move. What can change it is a change you make: adding a stop, adding a passenger who does not fit the class you booked, or asking the chauffeur to wait well beyond the free allowance. Those are quoted before they happen, not added afterwards. ## Meeting your chauffeur in arrivals Your chauffeur meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name sign — not at a rank outside, and not in a car park you have to find. The confirmation email carries the chauffeur's phone number, and it is worth having it open before you clear customs. Sofia Airport has two terminals, so tell us which one you are landing at when you book. It comes off your flight number automatically, but if you are arriving on a codeshare or a changed aircraft it is worth confirming. ### How long will the chauffeur wait? Airport pickups include **60 minutes of free waiting from the actual landing time**, not from the time you booked. Everywhere else the allowance is 15 minutes. Sixty minutes covers a slow passport queue and a full baggage carousel with room left over; it does not cover a two-hour customs hold, which is rare and which we would rather you call about than pay for. ### What happens if my flight is delayed? Flights are tracked against their actual arrival time and the pickup moves with them. You do not need to call, rebook or pay a change fee for a delay you did not cause. A diverted or cancelled flight is different — that is a call, and we will move the booking to your new arrival rather than charge you for the old one. ## How far ahead to book The minimum is **three hours before pickup**. That is deliberately short: a twelve-hour rule refuses every same-day and next-morning airport transfer, which is a large share of the trips people actually need. Booking further ahead matters most in two windows — the ski season between December and March, and the summer coast season — when the fleet is committed early. For a January morning transfer to Bansko, a week's notice is realistic; for a Tuesday run into central Sofia, three hours genuinely is enough. Cancellation is free up to one hour before the scheduled pickup. Confirmation is immediate and by email, and you do not need to create an account to book or pay. ## Choosing between the three classes These three are the classes you book online, and all three are electric Mercedes, so none of them produces exhaust emissions on the road. They differ in space and in register, not in whether they will get you there. Larger and longer-range Mercedes classes — S-Class, V-Class, G-Class — are available on request for long transfers and specific occasions; ask when you book rather than through the online form. - **EQE** — 3 passengers, 2 large bags. The default for one or two people with normal luggage. - **EQS** — 3 passengers, 2 large bags. The same capacity as the EQE in a more formal car; the usual choice for client collection and executive travel. - **EQV** — 5 passengers, 5 large bags. The one to book for families, ski gear, golf bags, or four colleagues who each brought a suitcase. The constraint that catches people out is luggage, not seats. Three adults fit in an EQE; three adults with three large suitcases do not. If you are close to the line, the EQV costs less than the EQS and carries more than either. ## Transfer, taxi, or rideshare? All three will get you off the airport. They fail in different places. A **taxi** is cheapest for a short hop into the city if you take one from the official rank and the meter is running properly. It has no relationship with your flight: if you land two hours late, there is simply a different queue. For a long transfer — anything past Plovdiv — a metered fare is a guess you find out the size of at the end. A **rideshare** is fine in the city and unreliable at the edges of the day. Availability at 05:30 for a first departure, or at midnight for a delayed arrival, is not something to plan a flight around, and surge pricing moves in exactly the conditions where you have the least choice. A **pre-booked transfer** costs more than a taxi into the centre and less than most people expect over distance. What you are buying is that the car is already assigned, the price is already fixed, and someone is watching your flight. For a first arrival in an unfamiliar country, a business guest you did not want queueing, or a 160 km run into the mountains, that is usually the honest answer. The airport sits about 20 minutes from the centre, between one and two hours from the ski resorts, three and a half hours from Burgas and five and a half from Varna. In practice that means the transfer is often not the trip — it is the first leg of it. If you are heading straight to the mountains, book the transfer to the resort rather than into Sofia and out again; the direct fare is lower than two legs and it saves you a change with luggage. Three people to Bansko in an EQE pay EUR 250 between them, not each. ### Can I pay in cash on arrival? No. Booking and payment are completed online by card before the transfer, which is what makes the fare fixed and what lets the chauffeur be assigned to your flight in advance. ### Do you carry child seats? Yes. Say so in the notes when you book, with the child's age, and the car arrives with the seat fitted. The same applies to ski luggage, golf bags or anything else that needs planning for — it is arranged with the vehicle rather than found on the day. ### Can I add a stop on the way? Put it in the notes field when you book and we will come back to you with the price and the timing before the day. The online fare covers a direct journey, so a stop is agreed rather than added silently. ### How do I get a receipt or an invoice? A confirmation email arrives immediately after payment.
